“Dance above everything else,” that’s Naomi Morgan’s mantra. She’s the only Black student at her ballet academy, but her feelings of isolation will be worth it if she wins the Youth American Grand Prix, a prestigious competition that would change her life forever. However, ballet life is one of sacrifice, long hours, and injuries. Up until this summer, Naomi had an ally in Jessica–her best friend. But an injury and a tragedy combine to leave Naomi’s carefully constructed world spiraling out of control.

Unable to dance, Naomi’s mental health suffers. And when she meets Saint, a street artist with a wholly different perspective on the world, she finds everything shifting under her–maybe dance isn’t the only choice for her, maybe her voice can be louder off-stage, and she can shine in a different kind of spotlight.
